How to store Live Calci Worms after delivery

Keep the pouch upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze it, and use the worms within 7 days of opening. Bring them to room temperature before feeding for maximum movement.

Five storage steps

  1. Step 1

    Keep the pouch upright

An upright pouch keeps the pack in the orientation intended for storage and makes it easier to handle cleanly.

  2. Step 2

    Keep it cool and dry

Choose a stable, cool location away from damp conditions and heat sources.

  3. Step 3

    Avoid direct sunlight

Do not leave the pouch on a sunny windowsill, in a greenhouse or anywhere that can heat up quickly.

  4. Step 4

    Do not freeze

Freezing is not part of the product storage instructions and will stop the larvae being a live treat.

  5. Step 5

Use within 7 days of opening

Write the opening date on the pouch if it helps. Follow any more specific instructions printed on the pack you received.

Before feeding

Bring the worms to room temperature before offering them to your hens. This helps them become more active and makes the movement of the live treat more noticeable in the run.

If your delivery looks unusual

Check the current label first. If the pouch is damaged, the contents have leaked or you are unsure about their condition, keep the packaging and contact us before feeding. Include your order details and a clear photograph so we can help.

Plan storage before delivery

Choose the storage location before the parcel arrives, particularly during warm weather. When the parcel is delivered, remove the pouch from its outer packaging and follow the instructions on the pouch.
